Windows Server 2012

Microsoft have announced that Windows Server 2012 (previously known as Windows Server 8) is now at the Release Candidate stage of development.

Features

The key features of the new release include:

  • New Metro user interface, which you may have seen already on Windows 8 previews or Windows Phone 7 mobile devices.
  • A new Server Manager and enhanced PowerShell, to improve management.
  • Upgraded Active Directory with several changes from the Server 2008 R2 implementation.
  • Improved Task manager that gives more information at a glance.
  • The latest version of Hyper-V, which generally increases the resources available to virtual machines and provides new features geared towards building cloud infrastructure.
